Here's something I got on the plane. This can apply to ALL types of teachers and leaders. As a Jazz performer and educator I understand there’s a small audience of people out there that are into jazz music language and people that can hear when you’re shucking and jiving over chord changes. But the majority of people can’t hear that specifically in regards to the music. As a studied musician, you can create music that will reach a more general audience and keep it there without your audience even being bothered by your music not being that deep. Now, It's just music, not religion.
But as I thought about that, I said to myself, A lot of dishonest teachers do the same thing. They know it's a general none offensive sweet spot that they can keep their message in, to where they don't offend people. For those who are not disciplined and/or educated in sound doctrine, they won't think anything is wrong with their message. When you think about it, you can make more money when you craft your works according to people's feelings and wants, instead of catering to biblical principles and the standard people need to be at that's best for them.
You might be able to fool some people some of the time, but, you aren't going to be able to fool those people all of the time. The thing is, we shouldn't be trying to fool people ANY of the time. God sees our heart and motive. When you produce stuff out of selfish ambition at the expense of people's well being, you're operating in deceit and you're going to be held accountable for your actions. The people who trusted your direction have to deal with the consequences in their own lives. The bottom line is, everybody wants to be able to trust and depend on somebody or something. Those in leadership have to stay truthful and honest with themselves and their followers so they can continually help them to make good conscious decisions about how they govern their lives.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
May the Lord be with you,
