Man, when you get a chance to hang out with people of other nationalities outside of yours, you can discern the difference in their spirit and soul. I've been blessed by the Korean & Filipino community that I've encountered here lately. What I've gathered about myself as an American is, we have a tendency to have a spirit of pride.
Let me narrow things down a bit more to bring things into perspective. As a Black American musician or "Jazz" musician, we commonly can have a spirit of pride because there's this notion of inherited hipness and authenticity that's associated with who we are and what we do. People of other nationalities and even races are intrigued by our ability as Black American musicians but you can't get lifted up in pride and think you're all that just because of your ability. People will ALWAYS praise a persona of a person (idol) but as a Christian we know what that is and what it leads to.
Lucifer was beautiful on the OUTSIDE and wicked on the INSIDE but was able to deceive 1/3 of the angels in Heaven. So, if entertainers, black, white, or whatever adopt a spirit of pride in what they do, what spirit is going out to the people who follow them? How will it effect their lives? The heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked so for one to adapt a spirit of pride in who they are and what they do is a HUGE trap, both for the one operating in it and those who are deceived by it.
