For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
So when you set out to do stuff, are you considering what your intention is before you do what you desire to do?
Psa 37:4 – 5
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
We tend to want what we want first and focus on God’s blessing without seeking and delighting in Him first. Don’t you think If God knows our thoughts and intents, would He want to give us things that would be harmful for us? No, God is a good God. It’s just that His ways are not our ways neither His thoughts our thoughts. A lot of things we want and pursue, God doesn’t have anything to do with. But many Christians often run with stuff that they think God has approved of but it’s really just them and not God.
Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Wow, you may need to stop and ponder that thought for a minute.
Ok, now think about this.
God isn’t going to force anybody to do anything. That’s not love, Satan is the one that operates that way.
We freely have a choice to pursue our own worldly desires or pursue the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Of course, since we have a sinful nature, we often don’t default to wanting to do things God’s way, so we have to discipline ourselves, exercise self-control and continue in God’s Word so the Holy Spirit can transform our heart, mind, and desires to what God expects of us and has created us for.
Jer 29:11 – 12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
My prayer is that we all be honest with ourselves and with God so there is no confusion when it comes to what God realistically expects of us. If you’re like me, I don’t want to miss the mark every time I set out to do something. I want my thoughts & intents to line up with God’s thoughts and intents.
We can’t hide from Him anyway, so we might as well surrender all of our will to His. He knows what to do with it better than what i do anyway.
May the Lord be with you,
