Can I just share some insight from a biblical perspective? People idolize artists just cause they make them feel a certain way with their music! Let me explain something, when you listen to certain types of music it can be hypnotic and cause you to go into an altered state if you're impressionable. And when you're in that state, it can open up your human spirit to receive whatever spirits that are being summoned in that music stream. I never got into Prince because I couldn't connect with the spirit in his music. And just to be honest about instrumental music and some jazz, I couldn't get into Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter's music really either because of the spirit I discerned in some of their music too. I don't understand how folk who come up with the Word can just so easily ignore it and shut off their discernment just because they like the way something makes them feel! My thing is, be honest! I just hate to see people decieved and seduced by demons! And BTW, what I believe, my faith, and the way I see things is THE WAY I SEE IT! If you desire truth and pure works, Pray to the Lord and read His Word. He'll give you discernment. Of course you will have to deal with persecution and be because the folk who want the darkness DON'T want the light. But the thing about it is, you can't be craving the very thing that's separating you from connecting with God in the first place. It's really impossible to serve two masters! One is going to cause the relationship with the other to suffer!
THE STRUGGLE WITHIN US
Rom 7:15 - 20
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
