Here’s a perspective for believers! We shouldn’t really be offended by those who reject the Gospel because the best illustration we have was Jesus himself who had all of the signs, wonders, and miracles to confirm he was who he said he was. He was born of a virgin, died and was raised and that’s still not enough for many people! Now that it’s 2012 and we got Google & Youtube, folks can find all types of lies and justifications for them not wanting to believe. They could access the truth just the same though, IF, they really wanted it. The bottom line for the non-believer is, they just don’t want to let go of their vice, whatever it may be. They’d rather live in their illusionary pleasure island and ignore the idea of them having to be accountable to a Just God. If they can find an argument against God’s existence or against the supremacy of Christ, and team up with others who hold their beliefs, then in their mind they are home free to “Do what thy wilt” Then, they can make “God” how and whoever they want him to be. <– This default mindset and resolve has been engineered though. Yep, subconsciously it’s been engineered by the wicked wisdom of Satan & his demons carried out by men in the earth in places of power and influence.
Now, back to a believer trying to tell a non-believer about the truth, when you try to talk to the people whose mind have been blinded as a result of them following the course of this world, no matter how dead on you may be with the information you may share with them, they aren’t going to receive it if they’d rather live in darkness instead.
We can’t make people walk in truth! We just have to do it ourselves and realize that everybody’s not going to “get it” all the way as much as we’d like for everybody to.
2 Cor 4:3 – 4
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
My daddy used to say, “You can take a horse to water but you can’t make him drink, you can take a fool to school but you can’t make him think.”
I got an additional one I heard, You can take a horse to water but you can’t make him thirsty.
People’s thirst and hunger will drive them to get what they need when they really want it.
It’s our responsibility as followers of Christ to keep serving good food, the bread of life and offer fresh water, the living water which is Jesus Christ and His Word.
May the Lord be with you,
