Heard a great message about being humble and meek. Some folk that think they special get so wrapped up in their reputation to where they're Narcissistic and Vain. It's to much to learn and too many areas to grow in for ANYBODY to get caught up into how awesome they think they are. Please, get somewhere and study! Get out of yourself and just keep focused on Jesus and try to be like Him as you learn. You reputation will be reflective of your focus. So if you focus on you, then that's what people are going to say about you.
Musicians are one of the main ones that can struggle with this because we can so easily mesmerize people with our musical ability but as a musician, you can't get caught up in people's perception of who you are, it will always distract you from walking in the fulness of your call. Of course people are gonna wanna try to make you "great" in their eyes and if you're an insecure kat struggling with identity issues, you'll eat that up and find yourself so occupied with what people say about you to where you don't have a sober perception of yourself. Find you someone who's wise & competent but humble and learn to be the same way.
Here's a good model to start with:
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
May the Lord be with you,
