A SOUND MIND | Everybody's vantage point is different and you have to be willing to hear where people are coming from so you can better understand what their perspective is rooted in. Our brain is a storage of everything we've ever experienced in life. Our mind engages what we choose to pay attention to. The more we better learn how to sort through our thoughts and emotions, the more pressing it seems of the need to help others with the process. BUT BEWARE! It's very difficult to help people who've already fully committed themselves to doing something their own way. In addition to that, we can't force them to see it our way either!
It be kool if we could do like on the Matrix and just hook up to a machine and get programmed what we needed to learn within a couple minutes all we need to know about a certain topic but in reality it doesn't quite work like that. We ought to be thankful to God it doesn't work like that either. We have to go through a slow process to acquire GOOD information and attain wisdom. What should be first and foremost, one should read and understand God's Word to attain a sound mind. Then, the thoughts that pop up in the mind can go through the Holy Ghost's filter that we have inside from having spent time in His Word.
It's to easy to just respond and react without thinking stuff through but we run the risk of not being able to continue to walk in integrity. Of course, it seems to be easier just to go with the flow of what everybody else is doing but personally you have to reason within yourself, do I want what they have? Is everybody going to the same place I'm wanting to go? if the answer is no, then that means you have to keep your focus straight ahead to attain what you committed to privately in your prayer time with the Lord.
2 Cor 10:3
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
2 Cor 10:4
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2 Cor 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Cor 10:6
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
