It's a common occurrence to see the spirit of pride on highly skilled musicians. Of course, not all skilled musicians have pride but I can tell you how a lot of them get it. See, music is a universal language that speaks to the whole human being; spirit, soul, and body. So, when a master musician learns how to manipulate sounds with their instrument to make people feel a certain way, it can make the musician feel like they're "the man" and even make them believe their level of consciousness is higher than everybody else that doesn't have their musical ability. And to be fair, sometimes it could be true that the musicians level of consciousness is high but it's just because of practice in that particular area. It's nothing mystical about it.
If anybody puts in a lot of hours and years into doing something, they're going to be very good at what it is..
The reality is, it's not that the musician is anything special or different from any other human being, it's just that they so happen to be in an occupation where as a performer they are always applauded for their ability. From night after night of people telling you you're great after gigs, it can make you believe it.
Music is only one avenue and/or aspect of who we are.
Musicians get caught up in believing in their own hype. They get captivated with a persona of themselves that alters their state of mind to where it's as if they are intoxicated with themselves.
Check out this scripture:
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
It's just a measure of faith that they've chosen to focus primarily in the area of music. If they'd focus on other things outside of music and consider others more than themselves, they would allow a humble spirit to overcome the pride in their heart.
A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
